The school is fully recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education, a member of ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) and the Heartland Christian Conference (HCC). The HCC offers a variety of activities throughout the year allowing students the opportunity to work toward mastering skills in the areas of Bible, Spelling, Language Arts, Math, Poetry, Music and Speech, etc. UCS also has a strong athletic program.  UCS is a member of SIJHSAA (Southern Illinois Junior High School Athletic Association) and competes with area Christian and public schools. UCS is also a member of the Quad County Athletic Conference. The QCAC is made up of 10 SIJHSAA schools in Franklin, Jackson, Perry and Williamson counties.
